International Lamington Day - Tuesday 21st July
Kiwi Foodies Launch World’s First Anti-Ageing Lamington
Celebrate International Lamington Day 2020 & Support Women’s Refuge
Auckland, NZ: Three innovative Kiwi food businesses have joined forces to create a world first treat that not only tastes delicious but could turn back the clock; The Anti-ageing Lamington.
This must-eat bakery favourite will be released in line with International Lamington Day on Tuesday 21 July 2020 with 100 percent of proceeds going to NZ Women’s Refuge.
An Auckland institution on the food scene, Catroux is famous for its raspberry lamingtons and has partnered with The Remarkable Chocolate Co. and Two Islands to create an antioxidant laden version; the world’s first age-defying decadent sponge dessert New Zealand can rightly claim as our own.
Founder of Catroux Adele Jenner, says the twist on the traditional lamington is a light-hearted way to do something meaningful in the current period of uncertainty for many New Zealanders.
“Kiwis have grown up loving the classic lamington and at Catroux, we like to experiment with different flavours and textures especially when it comes to our lamingtons,” said Ms Jenner.
“We’ve created the world’s first anti-ageing lamington on International Lamington Day to create a moment in time to engage with consumers in a playful way and encourage them not only to shop local but also to support those in our communities doing it tough right now.”
Fellow gourmet foodie entrepreneur, Founder of The Remarkable Chocolate Co. Tracey Melville- Smith and Two Islands Founder Julia Matthews, are both passionate about supporting local businesses and communities, and jumped at the opportunity to make a truly unique dessert, and raise funds for women in need.
Ms Melville-Smith says, “The Remarkable Chocolate Co. is about remarkable tasting chocolate, great design and being New Zealanders. A delicious, innovative and nutrient rich lamington that gives back is just a perfect partnership as is working alongside like-minded Kiwi women to make it happen.”
